A remarkable young talent, Mitchell Lawrie, born in 2010, has impressed Luke Littler with his exceptional darting skills at the WDF World Championship held at Lakeside. Lawrie made history by becoming the youngest player to secure a victory at Lakeside, besting Tomoya Maruyama from Japan and then defeating Jason Brandon with a 3-0 win. Lawrie’s performance included hitting five maximums and displaying impressive checkouts, culminating in a tournament-high average of 97.21.

Expressing his astonishment on the WDF Darts Instagram account, Littler praised Lawrie, labeling him as extraordinary. Lawrie, filled with pride, reflected on his win over Brandon, acknowledging the challenge posed by the experienced player and his satisfaction with his own performance.

Lawrie demonstrated a strong start in the first set, finishing each leg in under 15 darts and narrowly missing out on a potential nine-dart finish before executing a brilliant 134 checkout. Despite a brief setback as Brandon gained momentum, Lawrie regrouped, elevated his game, and ultimately secured victory.

While Lawrie admitted to a slight lapse in focus towards the end of the match, he credited the supportive crowd for boosting his performance. Despite facing some pressure during his final throws, Lawrie maintained composure, attributing any misses to external distractions.

Looking ahead, the PDC World Darts Championship is set to begin on December 11, offering fans the opportunity to watch every match live exclusively on Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle.
