A popular streaming app that provided free access to a variety of content has officially shut down, affecting Fire TV Stick and other streaming device owners. The app in question is Amazon’s Freevee platform, a long-standing service that allowed users to watch shows like Jury Duty, Alex Rider, Bosch: Legacy, and Hell’s Kitchen USA without any subscription fees, supported by ads. As of September 1, Freevee’s content has transitioned to Prime Video, requiring Freeview users to download the Prime Video app and sign in with their Amazon account.

Customers have been informed that Prime Video is now the exclusive home for Freevee TV shows, movies, and Live TV, with access to Freevee content available until August 2025. Users can continue watching their favorite Freevee Originals and a library of movies, shows, and live TV on Prime Video for free without a subscription. While there are no additional charges, users will encounter box sets and movies that require a Prime subscription or one-time payment.

This shift may encourage Freevee users to subscribe to Prime Video or rent movies. Existing Prime Video account holders will find it more convenient to browse all Amazon content within a single app.
