Prince William has recently returned from a trip to Brazil for the annual Earthshot Prize awards. During his visit, he sat down for an interview with Brazilian TV host Luciano Huck, who also hosted the Earthshot Prize Awards. In the interview, William shared insights into his family life, discussing the challenges he and Princess Kate face in deciding whether to allow their eldest child, Prince George, to have a mobile phone. He also opened up about how they chose to be honest with their children about their mother’s battle with cancer last year.

This interview in Brazil is not the first time Prince William has addressed personal struggles within his family. Earlier this year, he spoke about Kate’s health issues on Eugene Levy’s The Reluctant Traveller docuseries. Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond noted that William’s openness about personal matters marks a departure for the royal family from traditional reservedness.

Jennie Bond praised William’s approach, stating that his candid discussions make him more relatable to the public. She highlighted the significance of William sharing dilemmas like whether to give George a mobile phone, emphasizing that many parents can identify with such concerns.

In the interview, William also touched upon the decision to inform their children about Kate’s cancer diagnosis in 2024, underscoring the importance of honesty within the family. Jennie Bond commended William and Kate for choosing transparency, as it allows the children to learn about family challenges directly from their parents.

With William’s increasing openness about his family life, Jennie believes that these insights will enhance the popularity of the royal family. She described William as a likable and relatable figure, navigating the complexities of raising a young family in today’s world.
