The resurgence of interest in old iPods has caught the attention of Apple enthusiasts looking for a nostalgic music experience free from smartphone distractions. According to eBay, searches for vintage iPods surged by more than 20% last year, with a remarkable 25% increase in searches for the iPod Classic alone. The term “iPod” was searched over 1,200 times per hour on eBay globally in 2025.

eBay reported significant increases in average sales prices for various iPod models in 2025 compared to 2023, with the iPod Nano 3rd generation leading at over 60%, followed by the iPod 3rd generation at over 50%, the iPod Nano 4th generation at over 45%, and the iPod Classic 6th generation at over 40%.

If you have any of these sought-after iPod models lying around, it could be worth listing them for sale. Current listings on eBay show some iPod models fetching well over £100. The trend of retro tech resurgence extends beyond Apple gadgets, with turntables, cassette players, and walkman-style devices also experiencing a revival.

The iPod, introduced by Apple in October 2001 with the promise of “1,000 songs in your pocket,” revolutionized music consumption by integrating with Apple’s iTunes software. Initially featuring a mechanical scroll wheel and hard drives, the iPod lineup evolved to include smaller and lighter models like the Nano. The iPod played a pivotal role in Apple’s success and digital music distribution. Despite being discontinued in 2022 with the rise of smartphones, the iPod’s cultural impact remains significant for music aficionados worldwide.
