Mitchell Lawrie has made history by becoming the youngest player to secure three senior men’s titles, surpassing Luke Littler’s previous record. The Scottish prodigy achieved this feat by winning the WDF Irish Classic in Killarney just days after turning 15.

In the final match, Lawrie outplayed Ronan McDonagh, showcasing exceptional skill with four 180s and an impressive average of 98.60, ultimately sealing a 5-1 victory. Prior to this remarkable win, Lawrie also claimed the Irish Classic Youths title by defeating Kaya Basal 4-1 with an average of 90.95.

Lawrie’s family, including his father Fraser and grandfather Dougie, were present at the INEC Arena in Kerry, Ireland, cheering on as Lawrie added another title to his collection. By achieving this milestone at the age of 15 years and four days, Lawrie surpassed Littler’s previous record, who accomplished a similar feat at 15 years, five months, and four days.

Looking ahead, Lawrie is set to participate in the upcoming men’s and youth WDF world championships at Lakeside. Meanwhile, the reigning PDC World Champion will be defending his title at Alexandra Palace. Lawrie, who previously won the British Open and Welsh Open, is gearing up for potential matchups against top competitors.

Although Lawrie will need to wait until he turns 16 to compete against Littler in PDC competitions, his family remains supportive of his journey. In an interview with The Sun, Lawrie’s grandfather, Dougie, emphasized their pride in Lawrie’s achievements and stressed the importance of him enjoying his passion for darts.

Dougie also shared that he played a significant role in Lawrie’s darts development, instilling in him the importance of playing with aggression from a young age. As Lawrie continues to excel in the sport, his family remains focused on supporting his individual journey.
