Outgoing host of Strictly Come Dancing, Claudia Winkleman, has hinted that a new presenting team for the BBC series has already been chosen.
Claudia and her co-host Tess Daly made a surprise announcement on social media, revealing their decision to leave the popular dance competition at the end of this year’s series.
Tess, aged 56, has been part of the show since its inception in 2004, initially hosting alongside the late Sir Bruce Forsyth. Claudia, aged 53, started as the host of the weekday companion show, It Takes Two, before joining Tess on the main show in 2014.
It appears that Strictly will maintain its tradition of having two hosts for the main show. In her farewell message to fans, Claudia mentioned that she is aware of the new hosts and expressed confidence in their abilities.
The BBC has not yet commented on the departure of Tess and Claudia. The duo thanked the network and the entire production team for their support and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the show.
Helen Skelton, a former Strictly Come Dancing contestant in 2022, acknowledged the challenge for whoever takes over from Claudia and Tess, describing them as leaving “big shoes to fill.” She praised Tess for her reassuring presence and Claudia for her humor on the dance floor.
