The Formula 1 season has kicked off with George Russell securing a win in Melbourne. Throughout 2026, the F1 calendar will span the globe, offering an exciting lineup for fans. Sky has recently announced a significant TV upgrade for its customers, enhancing the viewing experience for live sports enthusiasts.
The upcoming update will introduce an interactive experience for viewers, featuring a smart sidebar that will appear during race weekends. This sidebar will provide access to Race Control, a Recap tool for instant replay of thrilling moments, and live in-race standings. Additionally, the update will include dedicated driver and team pages, offering onboard cameras, enhanced race data, explainers, and improved navigation on the homepage.
The new features will be accessible at no extra cost to Sky Sports subscribers using Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and Sky Q devices. Although Sky has not specified the exact release date, the upgrade is expected to be rolled out later in the season.
In a statement sent to Express.co.uk, Sky mentioned that fans can anticipate a more immersive TV viewing experience during race weekends with the new sidebar. Apart from the F1 upgrade, Sky has unveiled an Ultimate TV subscription plan priced at £24 per month. This plan combines major streaming services like Disney+, Netflix, Hayu, and the upcoming HBO Max app for UK users, offering a bundled value of approximately £20 in streaming services under one package.
Included in the £24 Ultimate TV plan are Netflix Standard with Ads, Disney+ Standard with Ads (starting March), HBO Max Basic with Ads (starting March 26), Hayu (starting July, with selected shows available from March), and over 130 Sky channels.
