Luke Littler shared that a remark from Ricardo Pietreczko motivated him to defeat the German 10-6 and secure his spot in the quarter-final of the Players Championship Finals. Despite initially trailing 3-1 against Pietreczko, Littler, also known as ‘The Nuke’, staged a comeback by winning nine out of the following 12 legs with an impressive average to advance to the last eight in Minehead.

During a pivotal moment when the score was tied at 5-5, Pietreczko’s comment fueled Littler’s determination. Littler revealed that Pietreczko’s statement, implying satisfaction with just winning one leg, spurred him to prove otherwise. This motivation led Littler to victory and prompted him to exhibit some showmanship in celebration.

With an average of 102.67 and hitting six 180s, Littler, born in 2007, recently claimed the top spot in the world rankings following his triumph at the Grand Slam. Additionally, he replicated a controversial 121 finish from a previous encounter on the European Tour, showcasing his skills in a unique and impressive manner.

Reflecting on his performance, Littler acknowledged the need to improve his doubles game but expressed satisfaction with his overall play. He is set to face world No.9 Chris Dobey in the upcoming quarter-final match, with a potential clash against the winner of Gerwyn Price versus Daryl Gurney in the semi-finals.

In other matches at the Players Championship Finals, Nathan Aspinall will compete against Josh Rock, while James Wade will take on Jermaine Wattimena in the afternoon session.
