During this time of year, many of us enjoy buying tins of chocolates to share with loved ones or savor on our own. However, if you’re planning to do so, you might want to budget accordingly.
In the past, a tin of festive chocolates typically cost around £5. But on a recent visit to the supermarket, I was surprised to find that both 700g tins of Cadbury Roses and Heroes were priced at £16.50.
While a Nectar card can bring the price down to £10, it’s still a significant expense. Fortunately, there are more budget-friendly options available at Sainsbury’s for chocolate Christmas tins.
For instance, the Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Mixed Chunks Tin (60g) is priced at £9.59 or £6.50 with a Nectar card. Similarly, a 750g tin of Quality Street is priced at £13 or £8.50 with a Nectar card.
Other affordable choices include tubs of Celebrations, Heroes, and Quality Street in the 500-550g range, priced at just £6 each.
For those seeking even better deals, Tesco currently offers the same 500-550g tubs of Celebrations and Quality Street for just £3.95 with a Clubcard, and £4.50 without. Additionally, the Heroes tub priced at £16.50/£10 in Sainsbury’s is only £7.50 with a Clubcard at Tesco, normally priced at £15.
Recent findings revealed that Asda offers standard tubs of Heroes, Roses, and Celebrations for under £5, while Morrisons sells them for £7 (or £5.50 with a Morrisons More Card).
Tesco offers Celebrations and Quality Street for just £3.95 with a Clubcard, while Roses and Heroes are priced at £7 (or £5.25 with a Clubcard). Aldi and Lidl also have tubs priced under £5.
Marks and Spencer and Waitrose do not carry traditional tubs on their websites but offer smaller pouch-sized packets and alternative festive chocolates ranging from approximately £4 to £10.
