As winter approaches and expenses rise, the Department for Work and Pensions will launch three seasonal benefit programs in November to assist households during the colder months. With no bank holidays in November, regular benefit payments such as Universal Credit are expected to be processed without delays.
Individuals expecting DWP benefits on a bank holiday or weekend will likely receive their funds on the preceding working day. For example, if your PIP payment is due on Saturday, November 15, it will likely be deposited on Friday, November 14.
Benefit payment dates in November vary based on when you initially started receiving them. While some benefits like Attendance Allowance and Carer’s Allowance are paid every four weeks from the first payment date, Universal Credit payments are issued on a fixed monthly schedule.
Certain benefits, including State Pension and Maternity Allowance, provide the option of receiving payments either monthly or weekly. The payment day for the old state pension is determined by your National Insurance number and is issued every four weeks.
In November, some households will receive additional funds as three winter benefit schemes reopen. The Winter Fuel Payment program offers eligible households a one-time payment ranging from £100 to £300, typically disbursed in November or December 2025.
Eligible individuals usually receive the Winter Fuel Payment automatically. To check eligibility, visit the Gov.uk website. Another benefit, the Warm Home Discount, provides a £150 discount on electricity bills for qualifying individuals. This scheme restarts at the end of October and is automatically applied unless you reside in Scotland and are on a low income, in which case you must contact your energy provider.
Starting on November 1, 2025, the Cold Weather Payment scheme will provide £25 to eligible households in areas where temperatures are forecasted or recorded as zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. Payments are expected to be made within 14 working days of the cold weather period, and the Gov.uk website offers postcode checkers to verify eligibility based on weather conditions.
