A gruesome killer was apprehended after dismembering victims and discarding their body parts near the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge. Yostin Andres Mosquera, a 35-year-old adult film performer, viciously murdered Alberto Alfonso, 62, by cutting his throat in Shepherd’s Bush, West London, on July 8 last year. Prior to this, Mosquera fatally attacked Alfonso’s partner, Paul Longworth, 71, with a hammer and tried to rob them.
Mosquera, a Colombian national, stayed at the victims’ residence, where he later decapitated and dismembered them. He stored their heads in a freezer and transported the rest of their remains to Bristol in suitcases. His escape was interrupted when bridge personnel noticed a suspicious leak from one of the suitcases he was carrying, leading to his arrest at Bristol Temple Meads railway station.
During the court proceedings, Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC stated that Mosquera meticulously planned the murders to steal from the victims, using a hammer on Longworth and a knife on Alfonso. The murder of Alfonso, captured on video, occurred during a sexual encounter, with Mosquera waiting for the act to commence before committing the crime.
In a macabre act, Mosquera danced naked as Alfonso bled out. Before the murders, the trio had visited Brighton, engaging in activities together. Justice Bennathan highlighted the loving relationship between Alfonso and Longworth, describing the murders as premeditated and evil. Mosquera was sentenced to 40 years and 264 days in Woolwich Crown Court, having also pleaded guilty to child pornography charges.
