A passenger’s alarming discovery led to the evacuation of a busy plane at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, prompting the involvement of the FBI. The incident involved a loaded gun magazine with ten hollow point rounds found near seat 7A on a Frontier Airlines Airbus A320 just before takeoff. Following the discovery, passengers were swiftly removed from the aircraft as TSA, Frontier Airlines, Homeland Security, and Police K-9 units responded to the scene.
Subsequently, law enforcement, including the FBI and Atlanta Police, were notified about the situation. After the removal of the magazine and a thorough passenger rescreening, the flight departed approximately three-and-a-half hours later. Authorities confirmed that the magazine, bearing the initials “K H,” was found during the boarding process for the return flight to Cincinnati. Despite the initial scare, no further concerning items were found during the aircraft search.
The flight eventually took off safely, with TSA ensuring the security of all passengers. Reports from local news outlets indicated that the ownership of the gun remained unclear as investigations continued. Witnesses onboard, such as Terry Foster and Janyia Davis, expressed surprise at the unusual situation, emphasizing the importance of swift action to prevent potential risks.
