Tiger Woods has acknowledged that he will be taking a break from golf following a recent back surgery in October, which involved replacing a disc in his spine. This marks his seventh back surgery and the third major operation in the past two years, following procedures on his Achilles and ankle.
Despite his illustrious career that began nearly thirty years ago, Woods has struggled with injuries since winning the Masters in 2019, ending an 11-year Major drought. While he recently hosted the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, he understands that a return to competitive play will take time.
In a light-hearted comment, Woods mentioned playing in numerous events across tours but quickly shifted focus to his recovery, emphasizing the need to prioritize returning to playing shape before planning his schedule. He recently received clearance to resume chipping and putting after a six-week recovery period from the disc replacement surgery.
Looking ahead, Woods aims to break the PGA record for most tournament wins, currently tied with Sam Snead at 82 victories. Notah Begay III, a close friend of Woods, highlighted the challenge of walking the course as a significant hurdle in his comeback journey post-surgeries.
