Asda has introduced a new pricing strategy, offering lower prices on over 2,300 everyday items compared to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons loyalty card prices. The reduced prices cover a wide range of products such as fresh meat, produce, chilled goods, core grocery items, and bakery goods.

Additionally, Asda customers will receive 10% back in Asda Rewards Cashpot throughout January on all fresh produce purchases made in-store. Rachel Eyre, Asda’s Chief Customer Officer, stated that the initiative aims to assist families in managing post-Christmas financial strains by providing the best prices on commonly purchased products. The “Asda Price” promise ensures competitive pricing accessible to all customers without the necessity of a loyalty card.

In contrast, Asda faced a challenging Christmas period with a decline in market share to 11.4% in the 12 weeks leading to December 28, based on data from Worldpanel analysts. The supermarket experienced a 4.2% drop in sales, marking its 22nd consecutive month of decline, while Tesco and Sainsbury’s managed to attract more shoppers during the same period, further solidifying their position ahead of Asda in the UK supermarket industry.

Recently, Tesco announced its commitment to maintaining low prices on 3,000 branded products consistently as part of its new Everyday Low Prices campaign.
