A beloved online personality who chronicled her cancer journey through live streaming has passed away not long after sharing news of her supposed recovery. Chen Meiying, a 39-year-old mother, lost her battle with triple-negative breast cancer on October 12, following a year-long struggle with the aggressive form of the disease. Meiying’s life took a drastic turn when she was diagnosed in 2024, leading to the closure of her clothing store and significant financial strain from medical expenses.

Seeking support, Meiying turned to live streaming on TikTok, where she sang traditional songs in exchange for donations from viewers. Despite her health challenges, Meiying portrayed a positive and cheerful demeanor in front of her 17,000 followers, always wearing a smile even in difficult times.

In an unexpected turn of events on April 16, Meiying removed her IV line on camera and declared herself cured, only to face a devastating setback as the cancer resurfaced just two months later. The disease spread rapidly to her bones and internal lymph nodes, leaving doctors with limited treatment options to prolong her life.

Throughout her declining health, Meiying remained steadfast in her daily routines, with her teenage daughter serving as her primary source of motivation. She continued her daily activities, including the school run, despite experiencing pain and discomfort.

Meiying’s final social media post was shared on September 22 before she was hospitalized again on September 26. She passed away on October 12 and was laid to rest in her hometown, leaving behind her elderly mother. Meiying once shared an inspiring message, stating, “You can be poor, you can be tired, but you cannot be unhappy, because unhappiness makes you sick.”

Triple-negative breast cancer is known for its aggressive nature and limited treatment options compared to other forms of invasive breast cancer. This type of cancer tends to progress rapidly and is often associated with a poorer prognosis. According to Cancer Research UK, triple-negative breast cancer is more common in women under 40 years old and can rarely occur in men.

This tragic loss serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by those battling advanced forms of cancer and the importance of spreading awareness about early detection and treatment options.
