Britons may experience an unexpected surge of warmth in the upcoming month, as meteorologists are forecasting an Indian Summer that could bring temperatures reaching up to 18C in various parts of England.
Recent weather projections from WXCharts indicate that on Bonfire Night, November 5, the weather might resemble late September rather than early winter. Specifically, East Anglia is anticipated to revel in the mildest climate, with Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex expecting highs of 18C. Cities like Norwich, Chelmsford, Colchester, and Ipswich are likely to enjoy this unseasonably warm period, with coastal areas also seeing temperatures ranging from 15C to 17C.
Moving inland, regions such as Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, and London are expected to reach 17C, while central and eastern England should remain warmer compared to western areas. Cornwall and Devon are forecasted to experience temperatures between 13C and 15C, with the Midlands, Yorkshire, and much of the north-east hovering in the mid-teens. The north-west, including Merseyside and Lancashire, might see slightly cooler temperatures around 14C and 10C in Cumbria.
The Met Office’s extended weather outlook from October 30 to November 8 suggests that temperatures will likely be normal or slightly higher for this time of year. The forecast mentions an unsettled start with low pressure systems bringing rain and potential heavy downpours, especially in western regions of the UK. Looking ahead, the weather is expected to remain changeable and occasionally unsettled into November, with intermittent heavy rain and strong winds across the country.
