Sky viewers who enjoy movie marathons will soon experience a significant change in their channel lineup. Sky has announced the merging of Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) with Sky Cinema Family, set to take place on April 30. This move aims to streamline the service by consolidating family-friendly films onto channel 304.

Following the consolidation, viewers can access popular titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, Smurfs, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Wicked all in one place. Despite the reduction in the number of channels, all content previously available on Sky Cinema Animation will still be accessible through Sky Cinema Family.

Fans of Sky Cinema Animation need not be disheartened, as the standalone channel will make temporary comebacks during school holiday periods to entertain kids. Sky has confirmed it will be reinstated from July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.

In other news, Sky has expanded into the home security sector with the introduction of new smart devices. Customers can subscribe to a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month, along with a £15 upfront fee. This system includes features such as full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking additional functionalities, Sky offers a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ for £8 per month and a £20 upfront cost. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app controls, enabling scheduled arming and automatic device modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, highlighted the company’s goal of providing accessible premium smart technology. He emphasized Sky’s focus on essential customer features while ensuring simplicity, ease of use, management, and affordability.
