A mother recently shared her shock upon discovering that her close female acquaintance had been an accomplice of the convicted paedophile Ian Watkins. Watkins, the former lead singer of Lostprophets, passed away in prison earlier this month while serving a 29-year sentence for multiple child sex offenses.
His heinous crimes included attempting to rape a baby and sexually assaulting a child under 13 years old. During his trial, it was revealed that Watkins manipulated and controlled others, often while under the influence of drugs like crystal meth.
The mother, using the pseudonym Bethany Jones, disclosed that she had befriended one of Watkins’ associates in 2021 and even invited her to her son’s birthday celebration. They met at a probation facility where Bethany was undergoing an 18-month rehabilitation program for drug-related charges.
The woman, identified as ‘Woman B’ during her trial in 2013, had served a seven-year sentence and informed Bethany that she had been incarcerated for assaulting a former partner. Despite no suspicion from Bethany, she observed Woman B interacting with her son and his friends at the birthday party.
It wasn’t until late last year that Bethany learned the disturbing truth about her friend. Woman B failed a background check when applying for a job, and the information reached Bethany, revealing Woman B’s involvement in conspiring to rape a child, as well as engaging in sexual assaults and possessing indecent images.
After completing her sentence and being released, Woman B’s license was revoked due to breaching her conditions, including lying about her relationships and behavior. Bethany expressed shock and disgust upon discovering the true nature of her friend’s crimes, emphasizing the deception and betrayal she experienced.
Additionally, two fans who offered their own children for abuse by Watkins were sentenced as co-defendants. Both women, referred to as Woman A and Woman B, pleaded guilty to sexually abusing their own children and facilitating Watkins’ abuse.
