Jeffrey Epstein reportedly claimed to have provided advice to Russian officials on handling Donald Trump, offering insights just before the US President’s crucial meeting with Vladimir Putin. The revelations stem from a collection of 23,000 documents submitted to the US House Oversight Committee from Epstein’s estate following his death.
The documents shed light on Epstein’s efforts to exert influence on a global scale, including a 2018 email exchange with Thorbjørn Jagland, former Prime Minister of Norway and Secretary General of the Council of Europe. In the correspondence, Epstein suggested that Jagland recommend to Putin that Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, engage in discussions with him. This exchange occurred shortly after the passing of former Russian UN Ambassador Vitaly Churkin, who Epstein had previously engaged with on Trump-related matters.
Epstein’s attempts to arrange a meeting with Lavrov coincided with Trump’s summit with Putin in Helsinki. Subsequently, Epstein criticized Trump’s performance at the summit in correspondence with former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, expressing concerns over Trump’s actions and possible Russian influence.
