A 26-year-old former British school actor, Declan George Candiani, was apprehended by counter-terrorism police at Stansted Airport as he tried to travel to Finland with his girlfriend in August last year. Following the discovery of concerning content on his phone, authorities arrested him and conducted a search of his residence in Streatham, London, where they uncovered a significant amount of extremist material, including content associated with the Order of Nine Angles (O9A).
The O9A, which originated as a small sect in the 1970s, has evolved into a widespread extremist network with followers worldwide. It merges neo-Nazi ideologies centered on racial supremacy with peculiar occult and satanic symbols. Notorious killers like Ian Brady are often glorified by O9A members for their violent actions.
O9A adherents reject concepts like racial equality, human rights, and democracy, labeling them as hindrances to the dominance of the Aryan race. They advocate for the eradication of these principles through rituals, sexual abuse, and disruptive activities to establish chaos.
Declan George Candiani’s descent into neo-Nazi and occult extremism involved tattooing Adolf Hitler symbols on his body, engaging with mass shooting content, and obtaining guides on creating improvised firearms. Materials found on his devices, such as a document detailing killing techniques, underscored his deep involvement in extremist practices.
During a court hearing, Candiani recounted an encounter with a “red-horned devil” in his bedroom, claiming to have formed a pact with the entity. He was convicted in October on two charges related to possessing terrorism-related information and was sentenced to 23 months in prison concurrently with another sentence of 10 months.
Other individuals with ties to the Order of Nine Angles include Vincent Charlton, who was imprisoned for terrorism offenses and exploiting a young girl, Richard Densmore, sentenced for child exploitation, Alan Filion, jailed for making bomb threats, and Brandon Alonso, who carried out a violent attack in Mexico while espousing O9A beliefs. These cases highlight the dangerous impact of extremist ideologies promoted by groups like the O9A.
