Logan Taylor, a 24-year-old Nova Scotian native, had always been physically imposing even before he turned 10, standing at over six feet tall, which set him apart from his peers in soccer. His journey to becoming a professional football player with the NFL’s Chargers began when a local football coach saw his potential and encouraged him to join the team.

Now residing in Los Angeles, the six-foot-seven-inch, 312-pound offensive lineman is fulfilling his childhood dream after being drafted in the sixth round of the NFL Draft, making him the highest-selected Nova Scotian in NFL Draft history. Taylor’s path to the NFL required him to move away from his hometown at the age of 14, navigating through different locations to pursue his passion.

While Nova Scotia is known for producing hockey stars like Sidney Crosby, the list of native Nova Scotians who have played in the NFL is short. Taylor’s dedication to the sport led him to attend a different high school to participate in football since his hometown didn’t offer the program. His foster parents, Kathy and Brian Mason, supported his aspirations despite skepticism from others.

Described as a gentle giant, Taylor credits the Masons as influential figures in his life, considering them as part of his family. His journey led him to various educational institutions before being drafted by the Chargers. Taylor’s daily routine in L.A. involves intense training sessions and team meetings, emphasizing the competitive nature of the sport.

Despite the challenges, Taylor remains committed to his goals and hopes to inspire young Nova Scotians pursuing a career in football. His advice to aspiring athletes reflects his own work ethic – to approach each day with determination and a competitive mindset. As he strives to secure a spot on the Chargers’ active roster, Taylor remains focused on proving himself in the NFL.
