Renowned rock singer Sass Jordan, born in Birmingham, England, and raised in Montreal, passed away at the age of 65. Jordan’s family spokesperson, Eric Alper, confirmed her peaceful demise on Friday, with no specific cause disclosed.

Acknowledged as an unparalleled force of nature and an embodiment of light and joy, Jordan’s musical journey began with her debut album “Tell Somebody” in 1988, earning her the Juno Award for most promising female vocalist in 1989. Her second album, “Racine,” released in 1992, featured hits like “Make You a Believer.”

Esteemed for her talent, Jordan received multiple Juno Award nominations for best female vocalist and served as a judge on all seasons of “Canadian Idol.” Geoff Kulawick, former president of Stony Plain Records, praised Jordan as “bold, beautiful, and brave,” having worked closely with her on her last two albums, “Rebel Moon Blues” in 2020 and “Bitches Blues” in 2022.

Remembering her as a luminary figure in the industry, Kulawick highlighted Jordan’s ability to captivate audiences with her emotional connection and distinctive voice. Derek Downham, a Canadian producer and songwriter, fondly recalled his interactions with Jordan, emphasizing her radiant personality and comedic charm.

As a trailblazer for women in rock music, Jordan’s impact transcended her music, creating opportunities for female artists in a predominantly male-dominated field. Downham expressed admiration for Jordan’s resilience and pioneering spirit, hoping that her legacy would inspire future generations of performers.

Jordan’s legacy as a groundbreaking artist and empowering figure continues to resonate within the music community, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of witnessing her talent and infectious spirit.
