A village in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region was tragically hit by a Russian missile attack on Tuesday, resulting in the loss of 10 lives, as confirmed by Ukrainian authorities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, emphasizing that the strike targeted a busy area in Pechenihy, Kharkiv region, known for its post office and stores amidst residential buildings. Images shared by Zelenskyy showed the destruction caused by the assault, with buildings in ruins, burning vehicles, and emergency responders aiding the injured.

Governor Oleh Syniehubov reported that 17 individuals sustained injuries in the incident, which caused damage to private buildings, a café, a post office, a store, and several cars in the village. The attack allegedly involved the use of two Banderol cruise missiles by Russia, according to Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office.

In response, Ukraine conducted a significant drone offensive on Moscow and its surroundings, launching 620 drones early Tuesday morning, as stated by the capital’s mayor. Russian forces managed to intercept and down 180 drones over Moscow, leading to ongoing emergency response efforts in the region. The drones reportedly targeted various facilities in the area, causing injuries, including a 10-year-old girl.

Moreover, other Russian-controlled regions, such as Crimea, also faced severe drone attacks from Ukraine. Power supplies were disrupted in multiple settlements due to these assaults, with challenges persisting in ensuring electricity delivery to different parts of the region. In a separate development, Russia issued a warning to Britain regarding its alleged provision of drones to Ukraine for cross-border strikes, hinting at potential consequences for such actions.

The British Defence Ministry did not confirm the use of British-made drones in the attacks. However, they reaffirmed their support for Ukraine’s defense efforts against Russia’s invasion, citing a commitment to supplying necessary equipment. Earlier commitments by Britain included plans to provide 150,000 drones to Ukraine by the end of 2026 as part of a substantial funding package.
