Anthony Joshua has vowed not to hold back against Jake Paul and has expressed that only a knockout victory will satisfy his desire for aggression. The former heavyweight champion is set to face YouTuber Paul in what is expected to be a one-sided match in Miami on December 19, with Joshua reportedly earning up to £70 million for the bout. He disclosed that he will be trained by Oleksandr Usyk’s team for this fight and emphasized that only an early stoppage will meet his standards of success. “It’s imperative for me to secure a knockout, just defeating him won’t be enough,” Joshua stated.
“I plan to inflict damage on him physically and mentally. My goal is to demonstrate my superiority as a fighter and will continue to do so until I retire. I will enter the ring with the intention to cause harm; my aim is to truly hurt him during the fight,” Joshua asserted. “I will push forward aggressively, assert my dominance, deliver powerful blows, and showcase boxing techniques that may be unfamiliar to him. I aim to introduce him to a new level of boxing he has not yet experienced.”
Despite his strong words, Joshua acknowledged Paul’s dedication, noting that Paul has had 13 professional fights since his debut in 2020. “Jake is a determined fighter. Consider this – when I first entered the boxing arena with my cousin, I believed in my abilities; three years later, I participated in the Olympics,” Joshua added. “He has been involved in this sport for five years. I was once the underdog after three years of training, with no one supporting me. Underestimating anyone is a mistake.”
In response, Paul expressed his readiness to go to extreme lengths to create a major upset in boxing history. “No one could have predicted this outcome when I initially started boxing,” Paul remarked. “Most people doubt my chances of winning, but they should prepare to be surprised. I possess the power and timing required. It’s the unexpected shots that make the difference, and I am a skilled knockout artist; he needs to be cautious. I predict a knockout in the fourth or fifth round. I am prepared to give my all to secure victory in this fight.”
