Denise Coates, the prominent figure behind Bet365, has received an impressive windfall of £260 million, bringing her total earnings over the past 15 years to £2.7 billion. This further solidifies her status as one of the highest-paid executives in the UK and the top-earning woman in the country.

Recent financial reports of the Coates family’s gambling business reveal that Denise Coates received a substantial salary of £104 million, marking an increase from the previous year. Additionally, Bet365 Group distributed triple the amount of cash dividends to family stakeholders, totaling £313.6 million, with a significant portion destined for Coates due to her majority ownership.

While the £260 million payout is slightly lower than her record-breaking earnings in 2021, it still surpasses the compensation of other notable business leaders in the UK. The Coates family, ranked as the 16th wealthiest in Britain according to the Sunday Times Rich List, continues to amass wealth, with their fortune estimated at £9.44 billion.

Denise Coates, known for her low profile, founded Bet365 in 2000 from a modest setup in a Stoke on Trent car park. Together with her husband, Richard Smith, they transitioned from residing in a farmhouse to building a lavish £90 million estate in rural Cheshire, complete with exclusive amenities and extensive grounds.

Apart from their financial success, the Coates family demonstrates a commitment to philanthropy, notably through the Denise Coates Foundation, which donated £130 million in the previous year to various charitable causes. The foundation’s contributions include substantial grants to healthcare institutions like The University Hospitals of North Midlands Charity, aimed at enhancing medical facilities and services for the community.

Despite Bet365’s revenue growth to over £4 billion in the last fiscal year, the company’s pre-tax profits saw a significant decrease. The impact of recent tax changes on online gambling, as announced in the latest budget, remains a factor to consider for the company moving forward.

Bet365 emphasizes its dedication to promoting responsible gambling practices and ensuring a safe environment for customers. The company collaborates with regulatory bodies and industry partners to uphold standards of player protection and support initiatives for safer gambling practices.
