Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, may face obstacles in fulfilling his desire to play in Brazil due to his hefty release clause. Any Brazilian club eyeing Fernandes would need to significantly surpass their transfer record to meet the asking price set by Manchester United.

Despite interest from Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League during the summer, Fernandes decided to remain at Old Trafford. However, reports suggest that he could be allowed to depart for a non-Premier League club if they are willing to pay close to £57 million. The current transfer record in Brazil’s Serie A stands at £22.3 million, paid by Palmeiras to Barcelona for Vitor Roque earlier this year.

In a recent interaction with journalists, the Portugal international expressed his contentment at Manchester United and hinted at re-evaluating his options post the 2026 World Cup. Fernandes acknowledged discussions with Al-Hilal and other clubs but emphasized his commitment to the current plan at Manchester United.

Reflecting on his future ambitions, Fernandes previously mentioned a potential interest in playing in Brazil due to his admiration for the attractive and dynamic style of Brazilian football. However, uncertainties remain over a possible move, even if a team meets his release clause.

As the football season progresses, much remains uncertain for Fernandes and Manchester United, who are striving to secure a return to European competitions following a disappointing finish last season. With the team in close contention for Champions League qualification, the upcoming months will be crucial for their aspirations.
