CBC has secured a significant expansion in its coverage of Canadian curling through a new five-year broadcast deal that will bring increased playoff coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling and all Rock League games to its platforms. The agreement with The Curling Group, disclosed on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined television coverage across CBC and Sportsnet for the 2026-27 season.
A major highlight of the deal for CBC is the inclusion of Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, will make its return to CBC in January 2027. Fans can catch every game on CBC television and CBC Gem, with selected matches also airing on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Featuring six mixed-gender franchises with curlers from various countries, the upcoming second season of Rock League will showcase events on specific weekends in January and April, with games scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
In addition to its Rock League coverage, CBC will play a more prominent role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet will remain the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events, commencing in October. The network will broadcast three draws per day from Tuesday to Friday, with CBC and CBC Gem joining Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage. The championship finals on Sundays will be carried by Sportsnet, while CBC will also present select finals throughout the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will continue to be streamed on Rock Channel.
The newly inked agreement builds on CBC’s longstanding involvement with curling and enhances its presence during some of Canada’s premier curling events. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming season of Rock League, highlighting CBC’s rich history of curling coverage.
