Carol Vorderman recently addressed Pete Wicks’ remarks about having a crush on her while discussing her love life. The 64-year-old former Countdown host shared that she has essentially been single for the past 15 years following her separation from journalist Des Kelly.
Having been married twice before, Carol revealed in 2022 that she no longer seeks monogamous relationships and instead prefers having multiple “special friends” for more casual connections. She mentioned that this lifestyle has provided her with a greater sense of freedom in her life.
Although Carol did not disclose the exact number of special friends she currently maintains, she acknowledged having had medium-term relationships over the years while primarily being single. She expressed contentment with her close-knit family, friends, and two children, emphasizing that she feels fulfilled without a traditional romantic partnership.
Having tied the knot for the first time at the age of 24 with Royal Navy officer Christopher Mather, Carol’s first marriage lasted only a year. She humorously recalled an unconventional moment during her wedding ceremony involving an inappropriate outfit choice.
Subsequently, Carol married management consultant Patrick King in 1990 after her divorce, and they had children together before parting ways in 2000. Following this, she engaged in a five-year relationship with Des before ultimately separating in 2006.
In a recent interview, Carol explained her perspective on relationships, highlighting her preference for a more flexible approach rather than committing to one partner for life. She described her life as structured in chapters, with the current one being particularly liberating since she turned 50.
Carol also shared that she had ended relationships with two of her special friends, noting the evolved and open nature of her connections. Despite being admired by celebrities like Pete Wicks and Melvin Odoom, Carol remains grounded and appreciative of the attention she receives.
