In a recent auction, a lightsaber featuring Luke Skywalker’s severed hand from the movie “The Empire Strikes Back” was sold for a record-breaking $3.75 million US. This sale marked the highest price ever achieved for a prop used in a “Star Wars” film, as confirmed by the auction house.
Now, another iconic lightsaber is set to go under the hammer. A Darth Vader lightsaber, famously used in the pivotal duel at Cloud City where he reveals the famous line “I am your father” to Skywalker, will be a featured item in the upcoming Ultimate Star Wars Auction hosted by Heritage Auctions on November 12.
The Vader lightsaber, also seen in “Return of the Jedi,” is anticipated to fetch a minimum of $1 million US. It is just one of over twenty lightsaber props that will be available for bidding at the auction, covering the “Star Wars” saga from Episodes I to IX, along with props from other productions within the George Lucas universe.
Among the items up for auction are the lightsabers wielded by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in “Revenge of the Sith,” with each expected to sell for at least $10,000 US.
Additionally, a Boba Fett EE-3 carbine blaster from “The Empire Strikes Back” is estimated to fetch over $100,000 US. The auction will also feature a Yoda puppet hand used by Frank Oz in “The Empire Strikes Back,” Anthony Daniels’ signed personal screenplay for the original 1977 “Star Wars,” and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
