Darts player Dom Taylor has publicly apologized for misleading others about his drug use and shared his emotional journey, including the loss of his daughter. Following his expulsion from the PDC World Championship, Taylor, 27, posted a heartfelt message on Facebook addressing the situation.
The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) revealed that Taylor received a positive drug test result from December 14, leading to his suspension from the tournament after his initial victory over Oskar Lukasiak. Despite winning £25,000 for his first-round match, Taylor’s prize money was withheld due to his suspension, allowing his opponent Jonny Clayton to advance to the next round.
In his social media statement, Taylor expressed regret for his behavior, having previously failed a drug test before the 2025 Ally Pally tournament. He admitted to deceiving himself and others, apologizing for his actions and acknowledging the impact of his past trauma on his behavior.
Taylor detailed the challenges he faced in his early teens, citing events like discovering his deceased grandmother and dealing with family health crises. He recognized the disappointment he caused to his loved ones, especially his daughters and fans. The anniversary of his daughter’s passing exacerbated his struggles with mental health, leading him to rely on substances to cope.
