David Schumacher, the nephew of legendary Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher, has recently become engaged to Vivien Keszthelyi. The couple, who met through a mutual acquaintance and have been together for several years, shared their happy news on social media during the weekend.
David, who competed in the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup for the HRT Ford Performance team, proposed to the Hungarian racer while they were on a romantic trip to the Maldives. Posting some picturesque moments on his Instagram account, the 24-year-old expressed his joy, stating, “She said yes. The ocean bore witness to our love, and the setting sun sealed our vow. 05.11.2025.” Vivien also expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of love and well-wishes from friends and followers.
Among the first to show support was David’s father, Ralf, a six-time Formula 1 race winner, who liked the post that garnered over 20,000 likes. Meanwhile, Michael Schumacher, David’s older brother, has been receiving constant medical care at home since sustaining a severe head injury in a skiing accident in 2013.
Following an extended period in a medically induced coma, Michael transitioned to his residence where he continues to receive specialized care. According to Neurosurgeon Dr. Jussi Posti, who closely monitors Schumacher’s condition, it appears that Michael has been in a stable state for the past decade, leading a mostly sedentary life within a hospital-like environment at home.
In a Netflix documentary released in 2021, Michael’s wife, Corinna, shared insights into his life post-accident, highlighting the challenges and the enduring love and support from their family. Their son, Mick, also reflected on the accident, lamenting the loss of shared experiences and conversations with his father, emphasizing their shared passion for motorsport and the bond they once shared.
The Schumacher family continues to face the ongoing struggles and uncertainties surrounding Michael’s health, while also celebrating David’s joyous engagement to Vivien.
