Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele has expressed his wish for former teammate Kylian Mbappe to achieve Ballon d’Or success like him. Mbappe joined PSG in 2023 but later moved to Real Madrid after a year.
Dembele faced challenges initially in Paris but excelled after Mbappe’s departure, scoring 35 goals, including eight in the Champions League, and providing six assists last season. This performance helped PSG win the Champions League under coach Luis Enrique.
While Dembele received recognition at the recent Ballon d’Or ceremony, he believes Mbappe is deserving of the prestigious award too. Mbappe, who has never finished higher than third in the Ballon d’Or voting, is currently in impressive form at Real Madrid.
Speaking about Mbappe, Dembele said, “He deserves it given his career. He’s performing exceptionally well this season, continuously scoring. He’s a good friend, and I hope he maintains this form and eventually wins the Ballon d’Or.”
Mbappe has started the 2025/26 season strongly, scoring 10 La Liga goals and a total of 15 goals in all competitions, making him one of the leading scorers in the Champions League. His goals for France have also been crucial in their World Cup qualification bid.
As Mbappe prepares to face Barcelona in the upcoming Clasico, Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso praised his form and highlighted the team’s focus on efficiency and Mbappe’s role in the squad’s success.
