Ellen DeGeneres has offered a rare peek into her personal life alongside her spouse, Portia de Rossi. The 67-year-old former talk show host shared intimate snapshots on Instagram from their new residence in the Cotswolds, estimated at around £20 million, after moving from the US following the presidential election won by Donald Trump last year.
Joining a group of stars like Cardi B, Lili Reinhart, and Christina Applegate who voiced their opposition to Trump supporters before the election, Ellen and her 52-year-old wife expressed their disappointment with the election outcome and decided to start fresh in England.
The Instagram photos reveal the couple’s comfortable adjustment to their new home, featuring an open-floor layout connecting the kitchen, dining area, and living room with expansive windows overlooking a lush back garden. Ellen and Portia, married since 2008, have made renovations to the property, opting for an understated decor with neutral colors, a tiled dining table, leather chairs, glass coffee table, and minimalist furnishings.
In contrast to Trump’s extravagant style, Ellen showcases her preference for simplicity in her home. The couple’s dogs, Sport and Kid, frolic in the footage, highlighting the presence of various animals on their estate, including horses, chickens, and sheep that help maintain the grounds in the tranquil Cotswolds countryside, a favored retreat for celebrities seeking respite from urban chaos.
Ellen mentioned, “When we decided to live here full time, we knew that Portia couldn’t live without her horses. We needed a home that had a horse facility and pastures for them.” Known for her long-spanning career in the US, Ellen’s show, “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” aired on NBC-owned stations from 2003 until May 2022, garnering numerous Daytime Emmy Awards, including four for Outstanding Talk Show.
