Failed assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks, who targeted then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in a rally in Pennsylvania in July 2024, had a peculiar fascination with unusual fetishes, particularly bodybuilding women. Crooks, who managed to graze Trump’s ear during the botched attempt before being swiftly neutralized, sparked a thorough investigation into his background and motivations.
According to the FBI, Crooks’ online activities on DevianArt and internet searches unveiled his interest in animated depictions of muscular women. FBI Director Kash Patel disclosed to Fox News Digital that Crooks frequented a website showcasing images of women who engage in rigorous workouts.
The niche online realm of animated muscular women often portrays female bodybuilders dominating men who are typically smaller and less muscular. This discovery sheds light on Crooks, who did not leave behind any manifesto or clear reasons for his assassination attempt failure.
The FBI shared crucial findings from their investigation, confirming that Crooks acted alone, dispelling widespread online theories suggesting he was part of a larger conspiracy. Patel and FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino refuted claims made by conservative commentator Tucker Carlson accusing the agency of deceit regarding Crooks. They emphasized that the investigation into the failed assassination was one of the most extensive in FBI history.
Approximately 500 personnel were engaged in the investigation, conducting around 1,000 interviews globally. Patel emphasized the investigation’s priority since day one, highlighting the continuous effort to ensure transparency and uphold President Trump’s innocence as one of the victims on that fateful day.
Officials dismissed any links between Crooks and foreign entities, as well as notions of a second shooter. The FBI confirmed the accountability of every round fired during the incident, revealing that Crooks used a .223 rifle to discharge eight rounds at Donald Trump. The episode became a pivotal moment in the 2024 presidential race, with Crooks swiftly eliminated by a Secret Service counter sniper team.
Patel defended the FBI against criticism for failing to preempt the attack, asserting that law enforcement had no prior knowledge of Crooks’ intentions or any reports concerning him.
