Sarah Hartsfield and her husband Joseph had been married for just a year when signs of trouble began to emerge in their relationship. Hartsfield confided in friends about Joseph being a source of stress, while Joseph expressed his desire to end the marriage to relatives.

This was Hartsfield’s fifth marriage, hinting at a pattern of failed relationships. Her tumultuous history included previous divorces and a tragic incident in 2018 when her then-fiancé David was shot and killed during a heated argument over custody arrangements for her children.

Fast forward to January 7, 2023, when Hartsfield called 911 reporting her husband Joseph, a type 1 diabetic, had collapsed at their home in Beach City, Texas. Joseph was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition with dangerously low blood sugar levels. Despite medical efforts, he eventually passed away on January 15, with the cause of death attributed to excessive insulin in his system.

Suspicion arose when it was discovered that Hartsfield had a history of troubled relationships and suspicious incidents, leading to her eventual arrest on charges of first-degree murder in connection with Joseph’s death. Her trial delved into past events, including the shooting of David and alleged plots against ex-partners.

In October of the same year, Hartsfield was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 30 years. The prosecution portrayed her as a dangerous individual ensnaring those around her, while investigations into other related cases continued.
