An Evri courier driver has been fired after a video showed him tossing packages and using profanity at the residence of a police officer.
The incident captured on a doorbell camera depicted the driver hurling glassware-filled parcels at Matt Whitehead’s door in Didsbury, Greater Manchester. Whitehead, 46, received an alert on his phone from the camera, alerting him to the situation.
Footage reveals two instances of the driver mishandling Whitehead’s deliveries while shouting offensive language. On one occasion, he was filmed throwing a mirror-containing parcel and making derogatory remarks about the homeowners. This is not the first time delivery drivers have been caught misbehaving despite their daily earnings.
In a subsequent episode, the same driver was seen carelessly tossing delicate glassware into Whitehead’s porch. Neighbors had previously reported the driver for being rude and abusive on multiple occasions.
Whitehead, who works shifts, mentioned that the driver’s behavior was alarming and aggressive, even in his absence. He expressed concerns about the driver’s conduct towards vulnerable individuals.
Videos recorded by Whitehead’s Ring camera captured the driver making deliveries on October 3 and October 9 when nobody was home. Despite reassurances from Evri’s complaints team that the driver received a final warning, the company ultimately terminated his employment following the incident.
Evri issued a statement emphasizing their commitment to customer satisfaction and condemning the driver’s actions. They apologized to Whitehead and asserted their zero-tolerance policy towards such behavior, confirming that the driver would no longer be part of their delivery team.
