Twenty years after the initial broadcast of the popular TV series Footballers Wives, plans are underway for a revival of the show that captivated audiences with its mix of glamour and drama. Originally airing in 2002 and running for five seasons until 2006, the series comprised a total of 42 episodes featuring well-known actors like Zoe Lucker, Gary Lucy, Gillian Taylforth, and Susie Amy.

Following their roles in the show, many cast members pursued diverse acting opportunities, with some landing iconic roles in Eastenders, venturing into filmmaking, or even participating in shows like Dancing On Ice.

Gary Lucy, who played the character Kyle Pascoe in the original series, has confirmed his participation in the reboot project, hinting at potential changes in format. ITV is reportedly spearheading the revival, with a potential air date in 2026. As fans eagerly anticipate the return of Footballers Wives, curiosity mounts regarding the current whereabouts of the original cast members.

Gary Lucy’s portrayal of Kyle Pascoe involved complex storylines, such as his attempts to adopt his half brother while dealing with his wife’s eating disorder and his best friend’s unconventional situation. Prior to his role in Footballers Wives, Gary gained recognition for his portrayal of Luke Morgan in Hollyoaks.

Since his time on the show, Gary has taken on roles like Will Fletcher in The Bill and Danny Pennant in EastEnders. He also appeared on Celebs Go Dating in 2022, where he dated fellow contestant Laura Anderson, leading to the birth of their daughter. Gary has expressed excitement about the show’s return, confirming his involvement in a different capacity due to aging out of the footballer role.

Gillian Taylforth, known for her portrayal of Jackie, the mother of Kyle Pascoe, was part of some of the most scandalous plotlines, including a controversial relationship that resulted in pregnancy. Gillian has since become a prominent soap opera star, featuring in productions like Eastenders, The Bill, and Hollyoaks. Notably, she portrays Kathy Beale in EastEnders and has made multiple returns to the show over the years.

Cristian Solimeno, who played the antagonist Jason Turner in Footballers Wives, continued his acting career and ventured into voiceover work and filmmaking. He appeared in Hollyoaks as Ray McCormick and created the movie I Made This For You in 2020, focusing on a group of friends trying to prevent a suicide.

Susie Amy, who portrayed Chardonnay, a model-turned-WAG with a tumultuous storyline, faced tragic events in the series. Susie ranked on the FHM list of 100 Sexiest Women in the World in 2002 and 2003. Reflecting on the show’s budget constraints, she highlighted the creative efforts made to achieve a lavish appearance on a limited budget.
