UK households relying on Freeview for television content are advised to check their equipment and perform a quick retune due to recent channel changes. Freeview has announced updates, with some services undergoing name changes and others shifting positions in the TV guide. While the alterations are not extensive, conducting a swift retune is recommended to ensure that TVs are fully updated.

According to Freeview, “On 20th May 2026, some broadcasters are implementing changes to their channels. Users are required to retune to keep their channels and TV Guide current.”

Notable adjustments include two channels receiving new names. Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 is now known as Shop Unlimited, while Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 has been replaced by Great! TV +1. Additionally, there are modifications to channel numbers, with Great! Movies moving from channel 61 to channel 62, and Great! TV +1 occupying channel 61.

Freeview stated, “Channels on Freeview are continuously evolving as individual providers make decisions to relocate, add, or remove channels. Freeview remains committed to offering audiences a diverse and engaging content selection.”

If the updates do not automatically appear on your TV, manual retuning may be necessary. To retune your TV:

– Press the menu button on your TV or set-top box remote
– Select “set-up,” “installation,” “update,” or a similar option
– If a password is required, try “1234” or “0000”
– Choose “first-time installation,” “factory reset,” “full retune,” or “default settings”
– Confirm deletion of existing channels if prompted
– The retune process should commence automatically
– Save any channels found during the scan if prompted
