A young girl, aged five, accidentally fell 50 feet from a Disney Cruise ship after being positioned near an open porthole for a photo opportunity, as per authorities. The incident occurred while the girl was with her parents on the Disney Dream cruise ship. Contrary to false rumors, it was clarified that the girl fell into the sea after being asked by her mother to stand next to the railing.
Prompt rescue efforts were initiated immediately, with a mayday call and a yellow rescue boat dispatched within minutes of the incident. Fortunately, the girl sustained minor injuries, and her father received medical attention for an undisclosed issue.
Although initial recommendations for criminal charges against the mother were made, the state attorney determined that the incident did not meet the criteria for “criminal culpable negligence,” leading to the decision not to prosecute. The case was concluded following matching accounts from the parents during questioning by the Broward County sheriff, corroborated by security camera footage.
Allegedly, the mother admitted to taking multiple photos of her daughter near the ship’s railings during the trip. Additionally, she expressed concerns about the lack of window coverings and attributed responsibility to Disney for the accident. The Mirror reached out to Disney Cruises for comment on the matter.
