Two months after moving into their ideal residence, Justin and Amber Hicks, along with their two-year-old son Jacob, were tragically killed by an intruder in their home. The couple was found murdered in their living room, leaving their young child to wander around the crime scene unattended for 12 hours. The suspect, identified as Matthew Scott Lanz, allegedly carried out the heinous act.

The incident unfolded on a typical Friday evening when the perpetrator broke into the Hicks’ home undetected, fatally shooting the unsuspecting couple as they watched TV. Their toddler witnessed the horrific event, attempting to interact with his deceased parents afterward. Lanz now faces charges for the murders and cruelty to children in Cherokee County, Georgia.

Despite the ordeal, Jacob was physically unharmed when authorities eventually rescued him. The delay in the case was due to concerns about Lanz’s mental state, as he claimed to be a victim of a government conspiracy. The ongoing trial seeks to bring justice to the devastated community and determine the fate of the accused perpetrator.

In a separate incident following the tragedy, Lanz was arrested for a violent confrontation at another location. The complexities of the case, including Lanz’s alleged mental health issues and conspiracy beliefs, have added layers of complexity to the judicial process. The trial is currently ongoing as the legal system seeks to address the devastating loss suffered by the Hicks family and their loved ones.
