Arsenal received a cautionary note about Manchester City’s potential threat to their pursuit of the Premier League title, despite the current standings. Manchester City, trailing by six points behind Mikel Arteta’s team, are considered by former Premier League manager Alan Pardew to be more formidable contenders than Liverpool.

Following a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace, Arsenal currently leads the table, with Liverpool suffering a 3-2 loss to Brentford, marking their fourth consecutive league defeat. Meanwhile, City’s 1-0 loss to Aston Villa places Bournemouth as the closest rival to Arsenal, trailing by four points in second place.

Defending champions Liverpool, managed by Arne Slot, are facing multiple challenges, sitting seven points behind, making City the primary contenders for the title. Pardew emphasized City’s strength under Guardiola, who has secured six titles in nine years with the club.

Pardew expressed surprise at Villa’s victory over City, suggesting that Arsenal may view it as an opportunity. Concerns were raised about City’s reliance on Haaland’s performance and the need for other players to contribute significantly for a strong title push.

Guardiola remains optimistic, focusing on gradual improvement and not ruling out any team’s potential to challenge. Sky has enhanced its TV and sports bundle, now offering a wide range of streaming services and coverage, including the Premier League and EFL matches.
