Foster + Partners is now focusing on designing a new 71,500-seat San Siro stadium, as reported by Mail Online. The current San Siro will be demolished to make way for the new structure, with hopes of finishing the project by 2031, in time for the European Championship in 2032. Despite initial talks with Birmingham City, Foster + Partners decided to prioritize the Italian stadiums over other projects.
Manchester United, in collaboration with Foster + Partners, is exploring the redevelopment of Old Trafford and its surroundings. The club is in discussions with Freightliner to acquire additional land crucial for the proposed stadium design. United clarified that design work is on hold pending further clarity on land acquisition and fan requirements.
The Red Devils expressed optimism about the stadium vision outlined by Foster + Partners. However, they emphasized the need for progress in land assembly and financing, dependent on various stakeholders’ cooperation. United acknowledged the need for external partnerships to realize their ambitious plans and have engaged with the government and Trafford Council for support.
