After tying the knot, a newly married couple’s honeymoon turned tragic when a hike in a Montana national park ended in the groom’s death. Jordan Linn Graham and Cody Johnson, married for only eight days, went for a hike on July 8, 2013. Graham reported Johnson missing the next day, claiming he had gone for a drive with a friend after receiving a distressing phone call. Two days later, Graham allegedly found Johnson’s dead body while hiking in Glacier Park.
Initially, Graham lied about the incident but later confessed that during an argument, she pushed Johnson off a cliff edge in retaliation. She stated that she was unhappy in her marriage, leading to the fatal altercation. Suspicion arose as Graham’s behavior and inconsistent statements came to light, including messages indicating her unease about the relationship prior to Johnson’s death.
Despite initially claiming Johnson’s death was accidental, Graham pleaded guilty during her trial. She received a 30-year prison sentence for second-degree murder, with no possibility of parole. US District Judge Donald Molloy expressed doubts about Graham’s honesty regarding the events leading to Johnson’s demise, emphasizing that only she knows the full truth.
