Oasis have enlisted guitarist Mike Moore to take the place of Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs for their upcoming tour dates. Moore, a close associate of Liam Gallagher and a member of his solo touring band, will step in for rhythm guitar duties starting from the show at Goyang Stadium in Seoul tomorrow night. Fans spotted Moore at the airport recently, and insiders confirmed to the Mirror that he is the new addition to Oasis set to join them on stage within the next day.
Bonehead will be absent for parts of the Oasis tour due to receiving treatment for prostate cancer, a condition he disclosed at the beginning of October. A source familiar with the band mentioned, “Mike Moore has been performing with Liam since 2017 and is well-versed in the Oasis repertoire from the solo shows.”
Although Moore’s role is not permanent, everyone wishes Bonehead a speedy recovery and return. Moore joins Christian Madden on keyboards as part of Liam’s band now integrated into Oasis.
The band’s lineup remains unchanged, featuring Noel Gallagher, Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Joey Waronker. Following successful UK performances, Oasis is currently in South Korea before heading to Australia and concluding the tour with dates in Chile, Brazil, and Argentina.
In a social media post, Bonehead shared, “Earlier this year, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Fortunately, I am responding positively to treatment, allowing me to be part of this wonderful tour. However, I will need to take a break for further treatment, missing the upcoming shows in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney. Despite my absence, I am looking forward to rejoining the band in November.”
Anais, Noel Gallagher’s daughter, expressed affection for Bonehead in response to his announcement. Bonehead is acknowledged for his role in reuniting Noel and Liam Gallagher and kickstarting the current sold-out tour. The band’s return began with two remarkable shows in Cardiff, marking their first performances in nearly 16 years.
Noel Gallagher recognized Bonehead’s contributions during the comeback tour, crediting him for the band’s success and joking about Oasis’ history of changing drummers. Bonehead previously revealed battling tonsil cancer in April 2022, with a subsequent update in September confirming his recovery from the illness.
