Australia’s captain Pat Cummins is likely to miss the second Ashes Test as the hosts have announced an unchanged 14-man squad for the upcoming day-night match in Brisbane. Cummins, who was sidelined in the previous game due to a back issue, had shown promise during practice but was left out of the squad without a specific reason provided.

Despite Cummins’ absence, Australia’s victory in the first Test showcased the strength of their bowling attack, with Mitchell Starc delivering a standout performance. Starc, who claimed ten wickets in Perth, has been a force in day-night matches, while Cummins has also been a key contributor in such fixtures.

With Cummins out and Josh Hazlewood unavailable, Starc will lead the pace attack supported by Brendan Doggett and Scott Boland. Meanwhile, opener Usman Khawaja, who struggled with back spasms in the initial Test, retains his spot with competition from Josh Inglis and Beau Webster for a place in the playing XI.

The Australia squad for the second Ashes Test includes Steve Smith (captain), Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Brendan Doggett, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Michael Neser, Mitchell Starc, Jake Weatherald, and Beau Webster.
