Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have confirmed their decision to move back to the United Kingdom with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The royal couple, who previously resided in California after stepping down from their full-time royal duties in March 2020, plan to return to the UK in time for their children to start school in September.
Their move back to the UK comes amidst strained relations with the Royal Family, particularly after Harry expressed criticism towards his father, Prince Charles, and his brother, Prince William. In a February 2021 interview with James Corden, Harry discussed the challenges they faced within the monarchy and his desire to prioritize his family’s well-being.
Additionally, Harry was involved in a lawsuit against a British newspaper publisher, The Daily Mail, over privacy violations. Despite the lawsuit loss, Harry remained adamant about protecting his family’s privacy and criticized the court’s decision.
Recently, there have been signs of a reconciliation within the family, with King Charles meeting his son for the first time in 20 months last September. The entire family visited Britain in July, marking a significant moment as the King got to meet his grandchildren for the first time in several years.
King Charles, who had been battling an undisclosed form of cancer, showed positive progress following treatment, with doctors transitioning to a precautionary phase due to his exceptional response to treatment. The Palace confirmed that the King supports Harry and Meghan’s decision to relocate and looks forward to spending more time with them in a personal capacity.
