Vladimir Putin is allegedly supportive of Nigel Farage and his right-wing populist associates in order to sow discord in Europe, as claimed by David Lammy.
During a speech at a European socialist conference in Amsterdam, Lammy criticized Reform UK, highlighting the recent conviction of their former leader in Wales, Nathan Gill, for accepting funds from the Kremlin. Lammy emphasized that the Kremlin has a history of backing groups that seek to undermine European unity.
He went on to express concerns about the international populist right network, connecting Farage to various right-wing figures worldwide. Lammy noted the effective coordination and support among these figures, citing names like Martin Sellner, Tommy Robinson, Steve Bannon, Marine Le Pen, and others.
Asserting that change is sought by many amidst political volatility, Lammy vowed to resist the influence of Farage and his allies. He criticized Farage’s tactics of attacking institutions and mobilizing grievances, pledging to prevent their success in elections across Europe.
Farage, on the other hand, defended himself against accusations of being soft on Russia, stating his support for defensive actions against Russian aggression and assistance to Ukraine. His statements come amid ongoing criticism of his admiration for Putin and his stance on the Ukraine conflict.
