During the costly holiday season, many individuals seek opportunities to boost their finances post-Christmas. Roy Foulkes, a retired police officer residing in West Hallam, Derbyshire, has capitalized on YouSpotProperty, a platform rewarding individuals for identifying and reporting vacant properties.
Since discovering YouSpotProperty in 2024, Roy has earned over £5,500 in cash and vouchers by flagging neglected properties. Initially, the company provides a £20 Amazon or M&S voucher for correctly identifying an empty home. If YouSpotProperty acquires, renovates, and sells the property, they grant 1% of the purchase price, up to £10,000, to the spotter.
Roy’s earnings include £4,750 from two rescued properties and 39 £20 vouchers, totaling £780. The first property, identified during a walk, fetched him £2,350, while the second, near an ex-local authority house, brought in £1,620. Roy’s earnings have funded household items, vacations, and experiences with his grandchildren.
By reporting vacant properties to YouSpotProperty, Roy not only earns rewards but also contributes to society. YouSpotProperty processes an average of 110 £20 vouchers monthly for eligible reports, with 350 to 450 properties reported weekly. The company purchases and revamps homes ranging from £17,000 to £3 million, paying seven 1% rewards monthly.
Co-founder Benjamin Radstone emphasized the positive impact of bringing empty homes back into use, noting the shared rewards with the public. The initiative aims to address the issue of vacant properties, aiding in their rehabilitation and utilization.
