An 11-year-old boy fell victim to a school employee who engaged in sexual assault, bombarding the child with 5,000 unsettling messages and luring him with gifts.

Alyson Cranick, aged 44, enticed the young boy to meet her repeatedly over a span of months. The married mother of two encountered the child 11 times, transporting him to various locations and involving him in lewd acts in her car, authorities revealed. Cranick even coerced the child to sneak out of his residence after midnight multiple times in 2022. Throughout these appalling encounters, Cranick provided caffeinated beverages to the 11-year-old to keep him awake and gifted him items such as AirPods and a pellet gun.

The disturbing exploitation began when Cranick initiated contact with the boy via text and Snapchat. Subsequently, the school worker persuaded the child to transition their interactions to Discord after discovering that a family member had been monitoring his social media accounts and messages.

Between July and October 2022, the 44-year-old bombarded the boy with over 4,700 messages on Discord, as per the US Attorney’s Office District of Connecticut.

In a disturbing turn of events, Cranick crafted a bracelet for the child bearing the acronym “BFFLWB,” signifying “Best Friends for Life With Benefits,” according to an arrest warrant. The child eventually ceased communication with the school employee after she allegedly manipulated him emotionally to spend more time with her, law enforcement stated.

The offender was apprehended on November 14, 2023, on related charges and has been in custody since November 28 of the same year. Cranick faced federal charges in July 2024. Scheduled for sentencing on February 12, 2026, she could potentially serve a minimum of 10 years in prison, with the possibility of a life sentence.

The individual was terminated from her position as an administrative assistant at E.O. Smith High School in Mansfield, Connecticut, in September 2023.

The investigation into the former school employee’s despicable actions was conducted by the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force and the Connecticut State Police’s Eastern District Major Crime Unit.

This alarming incident follows a separate case where a teacher allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student and subsequently stalked him post-breakup.

Teresa Whalin, aged 28, stands accused of having a sexual affair and exchanging explicit photos with the teenager, commencing in April 2023. The student purportedly faced mental health challenges following the alleged relationship.

A sworn statement revealed that the student classified the association as “dating,” with both him and the teacher exchanging Snapchat messages, dining together, and spending time in her classroom.

After the boy terminated contact with the teacher, she allegedly began stalking him, struggling to cope with the breakup, as per law enforcement authorities.
