SeatGeek Canada has incurred additional penalties from the Ontario government for allegedly breaching a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets to their original face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the recent fines imposed on the ticket resale platform amount to a total of $22,500.
One of the fines, totaling $15,000, was issued for purportedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale at a price exceeding the stipulated resale limit. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was imposed for allegedly failing to disclose the complete ticket price when a purchase was made from an initial seller.
Both SeatGeek Canada and the provincial authorities have not yet provided details on the specific events that led to these fines or whether the company intends to contest the penalties. This development follows a previous instance in August when the province fined SeatGeek Canada $25,000 for similar violations.
